Adulthood

Is their a difference between being an adult and a child
When you become an adult do you lose the aspirations to be wild

Do you lose what allowed you to smile and be happy

Do you have to replace it with bitterness and being angry?
Some believe having a job signifies you have transitioned into adulthood

But the workplace is just a system created by corporations to ensue you are good

That’s why you are paid in paper that contains no actual value

one cannot expect to overthrow such an institution this sad fact is true
So does your age make you an adult if so what’s that magic number

Or is it the fact that you share your bed romantically with another

Maybe it is the “rights” graciously given to you by your loving government

What if it’s you paying into some sort of retirement
In my opinion none of these make you better than a kid

Someone is still making you explain everything you did

Telling you when to eat, when to go home, what you can wear

If you don’t comply you get put in timeout or the naughty chair
So what makes you an adult, what defines this title?

I ask why do I care? I live my life while allowing the world to effect me just a little

I do not desire to be pigeon holed by a corrupt system

I have a name, an IDENTITY! I will not be another “him”
Therefore I reject the notion of transitioning from this to that

I am a human that is always changing, sometimes it’s my view, sometimes my hat

So now I transition from this poem to another

You can continue to adult as I pretend to be a dinosaur and attack my brother

RAWRRRRRR

Davey the Dino Detective

This story begins on a dark and stormy night

Davey was dreadfully closing up his run down office

He had put on his coat and reached for the light

BANG, BANG, BANG, Davey reached for the guns in his pockets
Davey shouted, “who’s out there and what do ya need?”

A female responded, “hurry let me in they’re here”

Davey was a sucker for the dames so he opened the door with lightning speed

The female ran in and hid behind the desk shaking with fear
Puzzled, Davey walked towards the female when the door was kicked open

Two velociraptors with tommy guns rushed in

Davey was quick on the draw, he shot one in the head and the other in his shins

Davey walked over and put his colt Python under the raptors chin
“Who you work for and why you kicking in my door?” Davey snarled

The raptor spat in Davey’s face and began to spew foul language

Davey cocked his colt and pressed up it in the raptors stomach until he hurled

He then shot off the end of his tail just to get some extra leverage
The raptor screamed and squirmed and tried to get away

Davey asked again, “who do you work for you dirty bastard?”

Davey knew that this guy’s boss was the cause for his ruined day

The raptor shouted, “Tony the Triceratops is going to make your life real hard.”
BOOM! Davey had heard enough and the raptor looked better without his head

He walked over to the dame and helped her to her feet

“You want to tell me what the hell that was about?” was all Davey said.

The dame began crying and glancing towards the street
“You’re safe with me just talk and you better have cash!”

The dame spilled her story about owing Tony money

But she didn’t pay so Tony had kidnapped her son while she took out the trash.

Tony was the most vicious mobster in all of history
Davey said, “I’ll take your case but you have to pay in advance”

Davey had his own motives for wanting Tony dead.

The dame gave Davey a shoebox full of cash but something made Davey glance

It was a large triceratops with a horn missing from his head.
This wasn’t Tony but his enforcer Thomas the horn

His horn was broke off in a fight and now is the handle of his gun

Thomas looked at his two henchmen and said, ” you’ll regret being born.”

Davey just smiled he didn’t remember the last time he had this much fun
Davey smiled and asked, “do you want to die or let me talk to Tony?”

Thomas reached for his gun as Davey tossed over the box of money.

Thomas was sad because he had to uphold his boss’s integrity

He picked up the box and said, “this will only buy you a minute fifty.”
Davey stated, “that’s all I need, here or at Tony’s place?”

Thomas took out his phone and spoke quietly and snorted , “here.”

An uncomfortable hour later a limo pulled up taking up 10 parking spaces

There was a lot of noise as Tony stomped up the stairs
Tony was a broad gray triceratops wearing a three piece suit

He supported himself with a long Ivory handmade cane

He looked at Davey’s handiwork and said, “someone definitely taught you to shoot”

Davey just smiled and said, “you looking for this dame?”
Tony grinned and said, “well son you never fail to impress.”

He stuck his hand out and motioned for the dame to come over

But his face filled with fear when Davey shot him in the chest

Davey shot Thomas before he could get to cover
The dame starry eyed and confused squeaked out, “why?”

Davey answered with, ” I have my reasons, I’ll go get your son.”

A few hours later Davey returned with the dame’s son and a new tie

He came in picked up Tony’s cane and Thomas’s gun.
Davey said, ” I helped you because Tony wasn’t always my father.

He killed my dad and kidnapped me raising me as his own

He demanded money for my return but that was just a lie he told my mother

So I waited and ensured that he would not raise another son.”
The dame just thanked Davey and grabbed her child

She ran as fast as she could from the carnage

Davey just scoffed and said to himself “well that was wild ”

He went back, cut off the light and locked the door to his office.

Stay in Your Square

Two men stroll through the park holding hands

Thousands of screaming pop fans fill the stands

A man and his rifle sit quietly in the forest

A woman smiles as she receives another tattoo on her chest
A child dreams of becoming an artist

A man jumps off a cliff to check another item off his list

A woman covers her face to respect her beliefs

A woman wears men’s clothes even boxer briefs
The things above are just examples of the differences in America

Some of them may define you others may scare ya

How ever others behave in their daily routine

Does not spill into your square making you unclean
So stay in your proverbial square

You should not hate others or make them compare

America was founded by people yearning to be different

So why would you force uniformity as a punishment
If someone’s lifestyle does not cause you pain

Then you have no protected right to complain

You live your life as who you wish to be

And don’t you dare try to stifle me

United Geeks of America

Live long and prosper

Some are disciples of Captain Kirk

Wearing Vulcan ears and carrying phasers

Wishing their office chair was on the bridge while they work
Others pledge allegiance to Picard

Trying to be smart as Data

Picking a side may be hard

But nothing brings these groups together then hearing the mantra
May the force be with you

Pick your color and prepare for a duel

Red for the dark side or if you’re good go with blue

Just make sure your x wing has plenty of fuel
What if your fandom has never been to space

What if your sword is made of steel

And your best friend is of the elven race

And only a fool believes dragons aren’t real
Elementary my dear Watson

221 Baker Street may be your choice of an apartment

Solving crimes and resisting the urge of heroin

Swapping witty lines with Moriaty trying not to fall for his entrapment
So no matter who is the ruler of your land

We are all soldiers of the Geek Army

When the muggles don’t seem to understand

You can rest assured that you have a friend in me

Bureaucracy Buries us All

Bang, bang, bang, banging your head against the wall

Your insurance claim was declined, damn it all

You forgot to check on small box on page thirty three

Now you get to start all over, whoopee
Nothing is better than a mountain of paperwork

Sign your name enough to make you go berserk

But if you want that assistance you desperately need

You better answers questions and watch where you bleed
Because the clerk won’t accept your forms now because of the blood

You could cry enough to create a biblical flood

But you don’t, you just painfully start again

And try to make sense of this system we are trapped in
No one can treat your injuries until the insurance is right

No one is at the office because it’s 330 at night

So as you die on the hospital room’s linoleum floor

You just hope they take away the papers before they shut the coffin door

Culture in the Country

I am a simple southern gentleman

I speak with an accent unique to my region

These two facts do not prevent me from having culture

A life stereotyped by others of the south would be torture
To the disbelief of most I am not infatuated with my cousin

My yard is not littered with an engine or a rusty Nissan

I do not decorate my home with commemorative nascar plates

People of different races are not the objects of my hate
I enjoy reading a well written novel on a sunny day

I become excited over an upcoming theatrical play

I have visited a museum, nature reserve, and a historical site

And nothing can compare to a picnic under a starry night
Please do not judge me unfairly based on my birthplace

I have not allowed myself to be defined without an individualistic trace

I am my own man and proud of that fact

If you cannot handle that, then enjoy squabbling to my back

The Ghost of Javert

 le quitter madamezelle
Do no steal that fruit, you filth

I will ensure that you go to jail

My duty does not stop with my death
24601 was my obsession

He spared me thus I was in his debt

This fact was the cause of my depression

And i jumped to my death with no regret
However now I am trapped

To roam this miserable planet

I do not know how to cleansed

Or how to dry my soaked jacket
Valjean may have escaped the French

However there is more trash

I will fight this criminal stench

To stop thieves who steal others cash
I pray that I may find another ghost

That I may bury my saber in his soul

And drag his body to the coast

To see 24601 in pain is my goal
